The Lufthansa Technik Malta aircraft maintenance facility comprises of two wide body hangars and a third smaller hangar which can house three narrow body aircrafts, set on over 70,000square meters and includes over 10,000 square meters of workshops and other special amenities for certified Class D Checks and complete aircraft overhaul.
The project included energy saving lighting throughout, oil and fuel separators to ensure no adverse environmental impacts, solar water heating covering the entire demand, rain water harvesting providing over 60% of the annual water demand, heat recovery units on all ventilation systems, stand-by generation station, bulk fuel storage, passengers and goods elevators, Fire detection, flame detection, alarm and fire fighting plant, fire segregation and compartmentation, and an extensive Building Management System.
Our scope included also specialized systems related to aircraft maintenance, namely centralized 400Hz plant, including converters station, 960V-200V transformer units and distribution systems, fuel tank ventilation systems, drainage systems, earthing and grounding, surge and lightning protection, treated and filtered compressed air network and centralised plant, aircraft spray painting ventilation system.
